Do it yourself ± R855:

• The bathroom area is 5m²; adjust materials and costs to suit your own project scale.

• During the preparation process, the tiles on the side of the bathtub were removed, and the surface and the floor were smoothed with cement. The wall tiles were kept and painted.

• In order to beautify the space, a neat frame was drawn on the floor, and template technology was performed on the side of the bathtub and the floor.

• Start drawing your floor design with masking tape from the outside in for better control of the pattern.

• Press firmly on the edge of the masking tape to prevent paint from seeping under it.

• Use wide masking tape to create even gaps between the lines. Remove the tape after covering the second row; repeat the next row.

• Three widths of masking tape: 12mm, 24mm and 48mm

• The colors of Tjhoko Paint are Matt Black and Sherif's Stone

• Duram Showfloor clear paint

• Artist's brush for cutting in

1 Determine how far you want the floor frame to be from the wall. Use a pencil to draw a line on the concrete floor. Now stick masking tape along these lines (see masking tape tips). Remember that masking tape will cover the part of the cement you want to be visible after painting-the light gray streaks you see in the "after" photo are cement, not light gray paint.

2 Now paint the color bars, one color at a time. Using the artist brush, first paint along the "inner edge" of each strip next to the masking tape. Then cut along the outer edge where the floor and the wall meet.

3 Now use a sponge roller to fill the rest of the strip with the same color.

4 Before carefully removing the masking tape, let the paint dry. Use artist brushes to retouch any blemishes.

5 Measure and find the center of the floor where the decorative design is located, mark with a pencil and tape the "grouting line" with masking tape to form 4 squares the size of the template. We use dual templates to achieve a dual tone effect. Use Sherif's Stone to carve the first design in all four squares. Let the paint dry, then carefully place the second template on top of the first pattern and paint with matte black.

6 If you want to repeat the pattern on one side of the bathtub, just like we did, cover the "grouting line" with masking tape, then repeat step 5. Wait until the template is dry, then paint the rest of the floor with the color of your choice (we use matte black).

Before using Duram Showfloor Clear to seal the surface, make sure all paint is completely dry; use a paintbrush for this.
